Halfway Between the Imaginary and the Real, (2022 Wallack Galleries) curated by Atticus Gordon, is an exhibition of six contemporary Canadian artists concerned with the potential of imagination as a tool for understanding and working through our time. The artists build environments poised between reality and imagination, using this confluence to construct meaning. Rooted in the history of painting and image-making, the artists recycle surrealist methods to examine contemporary ideas and issues tied to histories, culture, and place. The exhibition proposes a re-enchantment, a remodelling of understanding orbiting imagination that looks to the past and speaks to the future. Double Dutch, 2022. Curated by the Nosy Mag Team, this exhibition was the physical accompaniment to Nosy Mag Vol. 2 Double Dutch. The artists featured in the show are all Ottawa based practitioners who examine ideas of community and togetherness. The exhibition features works by Sarah Mecca, Don Kwan, Olivia Johnston, Debbie Ratcliffe, Marika Smart, Martin Vuong, Alexia Kokozaki, Willem Diesinger Graceina Samosir, and Sarah Hodgson.
Marble Strikes Moon, A show of New Paintings, 2021. Curated by Atticus Gordon and supported by Wallack Galleries in Ottawa, this exhibition brings together paintings from David Kaarsemaker Erik Nieminen Laurena FineĢus Alexia McKindsey Andrews Beck and Atticus Gordon. The overall exhibition looks at new directions in figurative painting between Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto.
Transient, Art in the Anthropocene. Curated in partnership with the Chemical Engineering lab at the University of Ottawa in 2017, the exhibition examines art and aesthetics in the age of the Anthropocene. The exhibition features works by Michael Belmore, John Ancheta, Carol Howard Donati, Uta Riccius Mia Feuer, David Mcdougall, Sasha Phipps and Anna Williams.
